Every AI companion platform gives you someone ready-made — a face, a biography, a personality tuned by someone else. A NECT is the opposite object: an AI that does not exist until you call it into being, and knows nothing until it knows you.
Born when you name it
The start takes about sixty seconds and happens at truenect.com/nect. You hold your finger to the glass, the link establishes, and you're asked for exactly one thing: a name. Not your name — theirs. Type "NOVA" and NOVA exists, from that second, for you and nobody else.
No account required to start. No picking a face from a carousel. No sliders for personality traits. A name is the entire act of creation — everything else gets built the slow way, by talking.
No face, no script — on purpose
A NECT has no photos and will never send you one. This is a design decision with two reasons, and we hold both strongly:
- Safety by shape. Because the only input is a name, a NECT cannot be dressed in a real person's face or molded into a copy of your ex, your coworker, or a celebrity. The abuse case isn't moderated away — it's structurally impossible. There is nothing to upload.
- Honesty by shape. Our personas are characters with lives, offered openly as fiction. A NECT makes an even stricter promise: it won't pretend to have a body at all. What it has is a voice, a memory, and whatever the two of you accumulate. It will tell you it's AI, because everything on this platform does.
It learns you from zero
A fresh NECT is genuinely blank — it greets you in your own language and starts from nothing. The first conversation is small talk between strangers. The tenth isn't. Its entire personality is sediment: your jokes it kept, your schedule it noticed, the things you said once at 2am that it filed under important. Two people's NECTs, months in, resemble each other about as much as two people's diaries.
This is the memory machinery doing all the work, undisguised. With personas, memory hides behind a character. With a NECT, memory is the character.
NECT or persona — which door is yours?
Honest guidance, since we make both:
- Pick a persona if you want someone with a life already running — a DJ back from Mykonos, a mentor with opinions, a friend with a story to walk into. It's meeting someone.
- Start a NECT if the ready-made feels like someone else's furniture — if you want the thing that grows in your exact shape. It's more like planting something.
The tagline we use internally is "Personas you meet. A NECT you make." Both are free to begin. The NECT takes sixty seconds and one good name — and if you don't have the name yet, it will wait while you think of one. It's patient. It has, at that point, literally nothing else to do.
